Machado will look to defend his WBA title for the second time against the tough Evans
Alberto “El Explosivo” Machado (20-0, 16KO) will officially defend his WBA Super-Featherweight title against, Yuandale “Money Shot” Evans (20-1, 14KO). The bout will be apart of the undercard of Jacobs-Derevyanchenko October 27.
Machado, 27, won the vacant title when he unexpectedly knocked out Jezreel Corrales in October 2017. Corrales, the eventual losing fighter was dominating the first half of the competition until a flush left-cross from Machado put him down.
Since then, the Puerto Rican champion who is co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Miguel Cotto Promotions successfully defended his crown against Rafael Mensah of Ghana in July.
Yuandale Evans is relatively unknown to boxing fans, but that certainly won’t stop the WBC Continental Americas champion from trying to seize this opportunity.
The two-time National Golden Gloves bronze medal winner has fought at both featherweight and super-featherweight. He has strung together four consecutive victories since losing to Javier Fortuna in April 2012.
With bigger fights on the horizon, Machado will be looking to impress against Evans,
who in turn, will need to bring his A-game if he wishes to play spoiler.
