Jessie Magdaleno looks to return by February in a new division

3kingsboxing previously reported former WBO super bantamweight champion Jessie Magdaleno’s (25-1, 18KOs), return against Rico Ramos in September. However, he postponed and now has scheduled his return for February 2019.

The 26 year-old, hasn’t been in the ring since losing to current WBO champion Isaac Dogboe. A fight in which many pundits and fans feel is a fight of the year candidate that provided plenty of drama.

Magdaleno has hinted towards a move up to featherweight that could possible see a return to form. Having only fought once in 2017 and coming off almost a one year layoff prior to the Dogboe fight, rumors surfaced of his difficulty to make weight.

Therefore, the decision to move up makes sense and being a former WBO champion is an advantage. He will be rated high in the division before officially campaigning there, which can lead to a title opportunity in 2019.

Although Magdaleno desires to avenge that lone defeat, he wants to do it at the featherweight limit.

As of now, no opponent has been named for his return. 3kingsboxing will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they materialize.
