Is Floyd Mayweather Wilder’s Ticket to Beating Fury?
Ever since his stunning stoppage loss to Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 22KOs) on February 22, former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41KOs) has been offered assistance by former fighters and current trainers. None bigger, however, than Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The currently retired future Hall Of Famer is the latest to offer his hand at helping the dethroned champion regain his coveted green belt. Currently in London, Mayweather was asked if Wilder would beat Fury in their July 18 rubber match. A representative on behalf of fighthype.com was there and caught his response on camera
“If I train him! I can teach him how to win!”
Mayweather, arguably a top 50 fighter in the history of the sport, has an immense amount of knowledge that he could bestow down to Wilder. The question is however, would Wilder entertain that idea?
These men, by all accounts, don’t really have any type of relationship with each other, with many speculating a dislike amongst them. This move, although, could only help Wilder if he’s open to it. With about four months until the biggest and most important fight of his career, it’s clear that Wilder needs to do something drastic! Whether that’s bringing in Floyd Mayweather or somebody else, the “Bronze Bomber” needs a shakeup.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
