Crawford trainer Bomac says Errol Spence not loyal to boxing
The growing concern about the state of boxing has every entity in the sport wondering if we will have any fights at all in 2020. However, it also means that fighters and trainers have a lot of free time. This is where the old phrase “Idle hands are the Devil’s workshop” applies.
Unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (26-0, 21ko), while speaking the fans over social media, acknowledged that a fight with counterpart WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (36-0, 27ko) will happen.
Furthermore, the entire boxing community has been wanting to see this fight and is waiting with money-in-hand.
However, upon the news of the Texas unified champion’s comments, Crawford’s trainer Brian “Bomac” McIntyre got into a heated back-and-forth with the fans. It’s normal for fighters or trainers to debate with fans. Matter of fact, it helps the sports when they are more engaging.
It is worth mentioning anytime there is a topic about A side/B side and who has the better numbers, it goes from a hot stove to the Devil’s inferno. This is the most heated debate in all of boxing.
McIntyre felt annoyed by what some of the fans were saying about his fighter. Consequently, he would jump in and join the feeding frenzy with a mic dropping critique about the Texas fighter.
Oh wait, like KRS1 says: we’re not done!
Bomac is referring to the horrific car accident that resulted in Spence being charged with a DUI that happened back in October 2019. This has put a serious dent in the plans of making this generation’s “Sugar” Ray Leonard vs Thomas “The Hitman” Hearn mega-fight at welterweight.
Although some fans felt that his comments were out of bounds, that didn’t stop the aforementioned trainer from continuing to turn up the fire.
Moreover, the latter tweet was possibly the most disheartening. The boxing community would rather see these two prime champions fight.
