Mekhrubon Sanginov Ready To Return After Near Fatal Stabbing!
Undefeated welterweight prospect Mekhrubon Sanginov (13-0-1, 10KO) has one of the brighter stories in boxing as of late. The WBA #9 ranked contender makes his return to the ring December 11 against undefeated Cuban prospect Hugo Noriega (5-0, 3KO). This after he was nearly killed while visiting family in his hometown of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
ESCAPING A CLOSE CALL
Apparently, Sanginov elected to fend off an inebriated man for another man whom he witnessed being harassed. The action resulted in a deadly assault as the drunken man brandished a knife and stabbed Sanginov multiple times in the chest. One of the wounds was merely inches away from puncturing is aortic valve.
The Tajikistani acknowledged that he almost died, but for a good cause. The close call has given him more motivation to reach the highest peaks of his boxing career. In short time, Sanginov made a full recovery and has worked his body back into optimum shape with former WBA 122lbs champ Clarence “Bones” Adams in his corner. He now looks to put the incident behind him with a return to the ring.
Staged in the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, the card features many prospects on the rise. Names like Otar Eranosyan, Yamaguchi Falcao, Connor Coyle and Joseph George will seek breakout performances that will catapult them into securing bigger match-ups.
In July, Sanginov stopped Janer Gonzalez in one round. This on the heels of a ShoBox match-up he was set to participate in against respected undefeated prospect Adreal Holmes in March that was ultimately scrapped.
