Brian Mendoza ready to prove he’s more than just an opponent when he takes on Julian Williams!

On June 26, Brian “La Bala” Mendoza (19-1, 13KOs) will take on his toughest opponent of his career. He will collide with former unified junior middleweight champion Julian “J Rock” Williams (27-2-1, 16KOs). Both men are coming off of a full year of inactivity.

For Williams, this will be his first fight since his surprising knockout loss to Jeison Rosario. Rosario claimed J Rock’s WBA and IBF titles, as well. Even with the long period of inactivity, he’s still the heavy favorite heading into this matchup with the Albuquerque native. However, don’t tell Mendoza that!

The junior middleweight fighter told 3kingsboxing.comthe following about why he shouldn’t be viewed as “food” for the former champion.

“I’m not food man, I’ve never been food. Just no! I’m not that type of dude, I have too much power. You get sloppy with me, I know how to take advantage and I know how to pick my shots too. That’s something, I’m not even the same fighter that fought LaManna about a year ago. I’m not even that same fighter. I’ve been growing tremendously in the gym.

“The sparring’s are even different. Everything has changed man, you’re going to see me on a hole other level.”

Mendoza is a live underdog who is looking to pull off a major upset. With the power he possesses and Williams’ history of being stopped twice in his career, he should be taken very seriously as a threat to the Philadelphia native.
