Mikey Garcia may stay at welterweight to take on former WBC champion Danny Garcia!
In what would be a major clash between two former multi-division world champions, Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia are in advanced talks for an August 31 clash. The fight would be a FOX PPV event.
If this fight is made, it has a lot of implications both, competitively and politically. In the ring, this fight would be a can’t-miss given both fighters’ pedigree and talent. Outside the ring, it gives the PBC another major welterweight bout to market while leaving both DAZN and Top Rank scrambling to find fights to market.
Danny Garcia has been considered as a potential opponent for Terence Crawford due to the amateur rivalry. With that fight off the table, Arum and Crawford would have to look at Kell Brook or Alexander Besputin.
Hopefully for fans, this fight does get made because it’d be highly entertaining for fans. Both fighters would also be able to put themselves back into the top tier of the welterweight division with a win, so expect to see fireworks!
