Montana Love Has His Eyes Set On Gervonta Davis
When welterweight Montana “Too Pretty” Love (15-0, 7 KO’s) next steps in the ring on August 29, he will face the challenge of former IBF super lightweight champion Ivan “The Beast” Baranchyk (20-2, 13 KO’s). On paper, Baranchyk is set to be his most rigorous test to date.
Yet let the Cleveland native tell it, he is not overly worried about his Russian adversary. Sure, Love understands that Baranchyk is no laughing matter. At the same time, however, he is firm in his belief that he has the skills to make the Beast look like easy work.
“He’s a basic guy, you know? Just comes wild and aggressive. You know…regular.”

EYEING TANK & TAYLOR!
Provided that he finds victory over Baranchyk, Too Pretty already has his mind headed toward bigger and better. While he is unranked, Love is still turning his attention toward undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor (18-0, 13 KO). Yet, even more than Taylor, he would crave a shot at regular WBA super lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (25-0, 24 KO).
True, they reside in separate divisions, but have shared history in the past.
A few years ago, a rather heated sparring session between the two was leaked. Davis believes it was Love who made the footage a matter of public record. As a result the two went at one another via their social media accounts yet ultimately nothing further transpired or materialized. Nevertheless, while he doesn’t feel anything personal towards Tank, Love wants to get that opportunity as he told Boxing Social.
“Yes, absolutely that is a fight that can happen! We already have history from camp and sparring sessions. You know that went viral and what not. But yeah, once I beat him [Baranchyk] convincingly, no problem, then yeah definitely.”
Before he gets too far ahead of himself though, Love must first make good in against Baranchyk if he wants any type of “next level” bout. So let’s see how things first unfold August 29 when they go to war in Cleveland.
