Moran Revitalizes Career With Win Over Williams
After a very fun and grueling bout, super lightweight fighter Antonio “Tono” Moran (31-7-1, 21 KOs) snagged a major upset victory. The Mexican pugilist pulled this off by defeating #6 (WBO) and #13 (WBA) ranked boxer Mykquan “Marvelous” Williams (22-1-2, 11 KOs) by way of majority decision.
This was a huge win for Moran who entered the battle coming straight off a seventh-round knockout loss to lightweight contender Andy Cruz. Moron was (1-2) in his last three matches and in dire need of a win. Now that he has bested Williams in a memorable and fan-friendly duel his future has become notably brighter.
Obviously, Tono would love to avenge his loss to Cruz. However, it is very unlikely the Olympian would feel any obligation to provide him a rematch. With this being the case, Moran would logically look at other options.
Had Williams prevailed he had a great position to face Isaac Cruz, Subrial Matias, and Jack Catterall. If this win gets him ranked by the organization, Moran can chase some of these combatants. Only time will tell, but it will be interesting to see what the newly rejuvenated Mexican does next.
