Emanuel Navarrete and Uriel Lopez make weight!
The most active champ in boxing, WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarrete (31-1, 27KO) returns in Mexico live on ESPN June 20! However, this will not be for the fifth defense of his title. Actually, the bout will not be in his home weight division as he ventures up to test the featherweight waters against journeyman Uriel Lopez (13-13-1, 6KO).
The last time the champ fought within the featherweight limit was in October of 2017 against another journeyman in Danny Flores which lasted two rounds. Fans can expect this fight to possibly go the same way. Basically, think of this as a “stay busy” bout for Navarrete to possibly return in 2-3 months for a bigger challenge.
