Nietes Makes Super-Fly Move Official

The Philippines longest reigning champion moves up

As reported by 3KingsBoxing.com last month Donny Nietes has made it official to be moving up from Flyweight to Super Flyweight. With the move Nietes vacates his IBF Flyweight Title and has been made the number one contender for the vacant WBO Super Flyweight Title.

Nietes thanked the IBF for the opportunity to be their champion and the WBO for making him the number 1 contender for their vacant title. Could a showdown with Roman “Chocalito” Gonzalez be in the future as he is currently ranked number 3 by the WBO?

Nietes was last seen on the HBO Superfly 2 back in February where he dismantled Juan Carlos Reveco. He’s a very methodical fighter that stays calm under fire and hasn’t suffered a loss since 2004.

This move further solidifies the Super Flyweight division as one of the best in boxing. Who will Nietes fight for the title? Whoever, it is expect some fireworks.
