Norman Issues A Message To Ennis & Stanionis
For his first title defense, WBO welterweight champion Brain “The Assassin II” Norman Jr (27-0, 21 KOs) dismantled Derrieck Cuevas (27-2-1, 19 KOs) by way of third-round TKO. Following the fight, Norman Jr had a message for IBF champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis and WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis.
Norman turned in an impressive show for himself by roughing up, dropping and essentially bullied Cuevas into quitting in the ring. In the post-fight interview when asked if he wanted to say something to Boots and Stanionis, replied:
“That I’m right here. After y’all fight, I’m right here. I’m still in the welterweight division … Y’all seen what I did to dude tonight I can do y’all the same way.”
As it stands there is already a substantial backstory between Norman Jr and IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis (33-0, 29KO). These two were inches away from facing one another in 2024, yet Team Norman walked away feeling they were being shortchanged.
On April 12, Ennis will stage a unification bout with Stanionis (15-0, 9KO). If The Assassin II nabs the winner, it would put one fighter close to becoming an undisputed champion. So let’s see how the next few months play out for Norman and the division.
