Another huge domestic level fight out of the UK!
WBA International Super-Lightweight champion Ohara Davies (19-1, 14 KOs) and WBO Intercontinental title holder undefeated Jack Catterall (22-0, 12 KOs) could be next.
Davies wasted no time calling out Catterall after defeating Paul Kamanga last month. His career took a bit of a nose dive after winning the WBC Silver title as he suffered his first defeat to the talented Josh Taylor.
Afterward, Davies got himself in some trouble after making a series of offensive tweets towards lightweight contender Tommy Coyle. This lead to his removal from an O2 arena fight by his then promoter Eddie Hearn. Now he is with Frank Warren and after compiling a three fight win streak, he has breathed life back into his career.
Catterall made waves when it was revealed he was a sparring partner to Floyd Mayweather ahead of the 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao. In addition, he is the BBBofC British champion and has stayed busy; fighting 3 times this year already.
Davies has power which makes up for his lack of amateur experience and has shown some improvement since his defeat.
Catterall is a very slick southpaw boxer, has good movement, good hand speed and is defensively sound.
With both men being under Frank Warren this fight is very possible. Rumor has it negotiations for this bout are underway.
