Luis Ortiz states he is available to replace Jarrell Miller June 1!
Social media has been buzzing since undefeated contender Jarrell Miller produced a positive VADA test. While Salita Promotions claims Miller is still training and expecting to fight June 1, many expect the very strict New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) to no longer sanction this bout.
In the meantime, Eddie Hearn is on the phones trying to get a replacement for the unified heavyweight champion. These fighters include Manuel Charr, Adam Kownacki, Kubrat Pulev, Michael Hunter, Luis Ortiz and Dillian Whyte.
According to YouTube personality “Tha Cali Enigma Sports,” who claims to have spoken to Ortiz’ manager, the 40 year-old is ready to take the fight on five weeks notice! Not much is known beyond this as the boxing world is still waiting to see the official ruling from the NYSAC.
Additionally, it is widely speculated WBO #1 contender Whyte could be the replacement.
So much speculation, however, everything will be cleared up in due course. If the NYSAC gives the Joshua vs Miller fight the “OK” then we should still expect a good match-up. If not, the hard-hitting Cuban awaits!
UPDATE: 04/17/2019
Miller is denied a license to fight on June 1 by the NYSAC. Therefore, the unification bout is off!
