Pacquiao, Crawford vs Horn Moved Away From Madison Square Garden

ESPN PPV headed to Vegas

It looks like the Top Rank card headlined by Manny Pacquiao with WBO Champion Jeff ‘The Hornet’ Horn and Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford appearing as the co-main event, will now not take place at New York’s Madison Square Garden as first suggested.

Bob Arum has said today that it is likely that the ESPN Pay Per View show will likely head to one of the MGM International Properties in Las Vegas. The Mandalay Bay appears to be Pacquaio’s venue of choice, although as of Tuesday the exact site has yet to be determined.

“It’s a bit much, even for New York, particularly with all the stuff going on at Barclays,”Arum said to Boxing Scene.“For us to come there in March, April and May, that’s a lot.”

I completely take Arum’s point given that Bivol/Barrera, Wilder/Ortiz, Ramirez/Imam, Broner/Figuroa and Jacobs/Sulecki are all due to fight in the city over and 8 week period.

Arum further added that he thinks that a deal for Manny Pacquaio, who has not been seen in the ring since losing the WBO Welterweight Title to Horn will indeed fight Mike Alvarado on the bill, its rumoured that the fight is agreed in principle. But the contracts have yet to be signed, something that could happen as early as this evening.
