Jean Pascal pops dirty for a cocktail of PED’s and implodes rematch with Badou Jack
Another fight and reputation bites the dust. According to two-division world champion Badou “The Ripper” Jack (23-3-3, 13 KO’s) his June 6 fight is off. This is due to his opponent, Jean Pascal (35-6-1, 20 KO’s), testing positive for PED’s. Yet, a competitor to the end, and clearly not to be outdone by “Big Baby” Miller, Pascal popped for three separate substances. Now the fight is dead as a D Duracell from the 70’s.
The news is especially sour for Jack. This was a rematch of their December 2019 dustup. Following that bloody and hard fought slugfest, The Ripper felt that he was robbed by the judges on the cards. After losing that split decision loss he has dreamt consistently of payback. Then, with less than two weeks before Jack could wrap his hands around revenge, Pascal mowed the fight down like highway roadkill. Naturally he was upset and further angered.
WHEN YOU ACCUSE, THREE FINGERS POINT BACK
In some ways, it is ironic that Pascal popped dirty. Before his December 2010 fight with Bernard Hopkins, he insisted that Hopkins should want to prove he was clean. Later, in his 2016 prizefight with Sergey Kovalev, Pascal would again raise the issue of drug testing. Now, he gets caught all juiced up like Bane duking it out with Christian Bale in the middle of a riot.
Sadly, this is not new territory for The Ripper. Although, oddly enough, the last time his opponent was caught on the needle, the Swedish boxer benefited. At the conclusion of his May 30, 2016 bout with Lucian Bute, the fight was ruled a draw. Yet, when Bute’s post-fight blood sample came back dirtier than Pigpen’s gym socks, the draw converted into a DQ victory for Jack.
There is a bit of a silver lining for The Ripper. He will still fight on June 6. However, there has been no indication of who that opponent is. It is also unknown what is to be the fate and punishment awaiting Pascal. In both instances, 3kingsboxing will continue to report the news as it comes.
