Pedraza defeats Moran by unanimous decision for the WBO Latino trinket.
In a ten round lightweight bout from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada Jose Pedraza took on Antonio Moran. Pedraza looked sharper early on using movement and counter punching.
Moran is a straight forward fighter that constantly throws punches. Pedraza was able to dodge punches while making Moran pay for his mistakes, clearly landing the cleaner punches. To his credit Moran kept coming, showing tremendous heart.
Both men exchanged punches throughout the fourth round with Moran having his moments. By the midway point however Pedraza began to simply outbox Moran, using his movement picking his spots to attack.
A very bloody Moran Made it a fight, refusing to go quietly into the night. His trunks were drenched with his blood, it was a very valiant performance. Going into the ninth it was Pedraza that seemed to be in control using his movement while landing the sharper punches.
It was a good bout from beginning to end with both men having their moments. Moran was a very game fighter, but at the end of the night it was Pedraza improving to 24-1 with 12 KO’s winning a unanimous decision (96-94,3X). Moran (23-3,16KO’s) should hold his head up high and look to correct his defensive mistakes.
For Pedraza with the victory he may have possibly lined up a fight against WBO lightweight titleist Ray Beltran.
