Shawn Porter: “We all hit the reset button!”

Two-time welterweight champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter (30-3, 17ko) is arguably one of the most-liked active fighters in the sport. Furthermore, he has a fan-friendly style which is the reason why fans want to see him fight.

His “in-your-chest” fighting style, although enjoyed by fans, however, doesn’t always get the same sentiment among fighters. Former IBF lightweight champion Julio “The Kidd” Diaz (40-10-1, 29ko) is the only fighter to run it back with Showtime.

It isn’t surprising considering the hell you go through in a fight with Porter that fighters wipe the sweat off their forehead let out a loud sigh of relief, take the win and move on. Moreover, it has become obvious that even his counterparts in Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) haven’t been mentioning his name.

The boxing world is waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to pass so things can get back to normal. However, Porter has been waiting since losing to unified champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (26-0, 21ko) back in the fall of 2019.

During a live show on Instagram called Champions Corner with Coach Larry Wade, Porter made some very valid points that every boxing fan or enthusiast can agree on.

“We all gonna reset. The champions are still gonna be champion. We’ve all had the same amount of rest, now it’s going to be the same amount of time to get ready for a fight.”

“It’s guys who wouldn’t fight me in March or April. Coming into May, June whatever, we hitting the reset button. Guys like Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Mikey Garcia, Errol Spence, Manny Pacquiao and we’ll even throw Terence Crawford name in there cause he’s at the top of the list, should be on everyone’s paper!

“All those guys we’re all reset now. You can’t say I just fought in January, you can’t say ‘oh well I’m coming off an injury’ we’ve all been resting bruh.”

Porter emphatically made one final point that all the top entities in the sport need to hear and hopefully follow.

“People want to see the best of the best and they need to see it immediately.”
