Regis Prograis Responds to Maurice Hooker’s Comments!

WBA “Super” Junior welterweight Champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis, responded to WBO champion Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker via social media. The hard-punching champion took exception to the claim that he runs his mouth too much.

“Of course I talk too much. Why wouldn’t I! I’m young, black, handsome and rich. Oh yeah and on top of that I’m the number 1 ranked super lightweight in the world.

“I talk the talk and can walk the walk.”

3kingsboxing reached out to the WBA champion asking if he had more thoughts about the situation. He simply stated:

“He [Hooker] tripping!”

Hooker,(26-0-3, 17KO), could have met the rival champion. He was set to enter the World Boxing Super Series tournament shortly after capturing the WBO title in defeating Terry Flanagan in 2018.

However, he was lured out of the tournament with a unification promise made by Top Rank. As it stands that promise will come into fruition on July 27 as he will face WBC champion Jose Ramirez live on DAZN.

Prograis, (24-0, 20KO), is currently in the finals of the same WBSS tournament Hooker was set to participate in. He will also have his own unification bout against IBF champion Josh Taylor, although, a date has yet to be announced. In addition, the fight will crown a new lineal champion of the division.

LOOKING FORWARD

If both men wins their respective bouts then everything about this rivalry will be even more intriguing. A 2020 showdown between the two will then be for the next undisputed champion at super lightweight since WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford. According to Prograis, this is his ultimate goal!

However, before we can get to that point, the reality is both men still have difficult tasks they must overcome first.

The super lightweight division is one of the reasons boxing in 2019 has been exciting. Regardless of the outcome, fans are excited that by the end of the year we will be one mega fight away from another undisputed champion.
