Top Prospect Fights Former World Champion
The heavyweight division has some young guns that are beginning to make a little noise. These up and coming rising prospects provide a glimpse into the future of the division. You may have heard of names like Daniel Dubois, Filip Hrgovic, Joe Joyce and Tony Yoka. However, there is a new player on the scene that is adding even more kick to the punch bowl.
Undefeated rising prospect Arslanbek Makhmudov (9-0, 9ko), will be taking on one of the boxing’s elder-statesman former WBC champion Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter (38-8, 31ko). This is a huge step up in competition for the young prospect. The 39-year-old former world champion isn’t the same fighter he once was, but the level of experience that he brings to the table is invaluable.
Makhmudov made a name for himself in the World Series of Boxing back in 2012. The 30-year-old fighter used the platform to hone his skills before turning pro in December 2017.
A victory against the former world champion would be a nice name to have on the resume so early in his career. This is exactly the type of fight used to gauge if a fighter is ready for the next step.
This contest is scheduled to take place on December 7 at the Bell Centre, Montreal in Canada.
