Jose Ramirez May Face Jack Catterall Next!

The WBO has ordered unified junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez to face undefeated British boxer and #1 contender Jack Catterall.

This shouldn’t came as any surprise. Back in July 2019, the WBO sent a formal letter advising that the winner of the unified fight between Ramirez and Maurice Hooker would have 120 days to face the organization’s mandatory challenger. They now have 30 days to reach an agreement or it will go to a purse bid.

The 26-year old California native has gone through a gauntlet, fighting tough opponents going back to 2017. He run included winning the WBC Continental Americas title against then-undefeated Mike Reed. He captured his first minor title in impressive fashion by knockout. The momentum would carry on for the next four fights, and it’s not slowing down at all.

The British fighter nicknamed “El Gato” is finally going to get a title opportunity after surprising everyone with his victories over both, undefeated Tyrone Mckenna and former WBC silver titlist Ohara Davies.

Catterall, however, has a very tough task ahead of him in attempting to win his first world title. The champion has shown that not only will he travel to enemy territory, but has been fighting in another gear lately.
