Gilberto Ramirez and Jesse Hart Will Rematch on December 14th
3KingsBoxing has learned that WBO Super Middleweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez’s next fight is set.
He will attempt to make his fifth defense of the WBO title in a rematch with Jesse Hart. The fight will air on ESPN+ with the location to be determined.
Ramirez (38-0, 25KOs) and Hart (25-1, 21KOs) first fought in September 2017, with Ramirez winning by unanimous decision. “Zurdo” scored a second-round knockdown, but Hart showed himself to be very tough.
Hart had his moments in the contest, forcing his opponent to work hard throughout. Moreover, it was a competitive, high action bout. Since then, Ramirez has successfully defended the title twice; stopping Habib Ahmed via 6th round stoppage in February and scoring a unanimous decision win over Roamer Alexis Angulo in June.
For his part, the fighter from Philadelphia has come back with three straight stoppage wins over Thomas Awimbono, Demond Nicholson and Mike Gavronski, working his up to the No. 1 contender for the WBO title.
While we all would like to see Ramirez face the likes of newly crowned WBSS Super Middleweight champion Callum Smith, Jose Uzcategui or David Benavidez, this rematch is not a bad alternative.
Ramirez-Hart I was a very good fight, look for the rematch to be a good one as well.
