Jose Ramirez vs Vitkor Postol in the Works!
3kingsboxing.com previously reported that new unified junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez had been mandated to face WBO mandatory Jack Catterall.
Now, we’ve learned that Ramirez will instead face former WBC junior welterweight champion Vitkor Postol. The target date and location is November 30 at the Banc of California Stadium, LA.
Ramirez is coming off an exciting fight against Maurice Hooker where he claimed the WBO Junior welterweight title in their July 27 unification fight. In that bout, he scored a sixth round TKO.
Postol, age 35, is riding a two-fight win-streak since losing an unanimous decision against current IBF junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor back in 2018.
He is currently ranked #13 by the WBO and #2 by the WBC.
His two most recent victories have come against Siar Ozgul and Mohamed Mimoune, winning both fights by decision.
While clearly past his prime, Postol has shown that he still has some gas left in his tank. With his height, boxing ability and experience he should provide a tough task for the unbeaten champion Ramirez.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
