Is Prograis the best junior welterweight in the world?
Hailing from New Orleans there is no doubt Regis “Ragura” Prograis has made some noise at junior welterweight.
With Mikey Garcia now campaigning at 135, the crop of fighters becomes a pool of talent waiting to be the next star. Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor would be two other names who could also be considered the next big thing.
However, with the power and aggression Prograis possesses, he has shown he can be a problem for anyone. Hypothetically speaking, if Taylor or Ramirez allow him to hit them like they were hit and their last fights, it could possibly be an early night.
But can Prograis crossover to being a star in boxing??? He has a pretty interesting background as a New Orleans Katrina evacuee and his trials and triumphs. He has the persona, passion, and his fan-friendly style can potentially fill arenas throughout the country.
Couple that with the backing off two cities in Houston and New Orleans, his future as a star is looking bright.
Most importantly, he must look at getting another signature win under his belt. He can start with winning the WBSS, which will feature Taylor. A win of that magnitude will definitely be a boost to his career.
