WBC super bantamweight champion eyeing unification bout and a move up in weight
Rey Vargas is eager to get back in the ring in a unification bout with WBA super bantamweight champion Danny Roman. Currently, he is out with a hand injury until at least November.
He also has his eyes set on a potential move up to featherweight for a showdown with Leo Santa Cruz.
Vargas (32-0, 22 KOs) was last seen in the ring back in May, winning a unanimous decision over Azat Hovhannisyan. In that fight, he suffered an injury to his left hand and would require surgery.
Interestingly enough, Vargas made no mention of WBO super bantamweight champion Issac Dogboe ,who returns on August 25th against Hidenori Otake on ESPN.
