Ritson KOs Amador in three
Lewis Ritson returned on the undercard of Khan-Vargas in a warm-up fight preceding his scheduled October title bout against Francesco Patera.
The majority of the crowd at Arena Birmingham forsaw what was to come for the journeyman challenger Oscar Armador.
The first two rounds looked as if Ritson was going through the motions in order to land something big. Amador was extremely aggressive, attempting to smother the favorite while not allowing him to get comfortable.
Consequently, the aggression of the underdog was causing him to smother his own work. This coupled with very poor defensive ability allowed Ritson to time an overhand right to the temple in the third round.
The shot caused a delayed reaction which resulted in Amador taking a knee moments later. The fight was ultimately waved off as there was a slim-to-none chance he could actually be competitive.
The BBBofC lightweight champion improves to 17-0 with 11 knockouts and will return in Newcastle October 13.
