Regis Progrias vs Terry Flanagan

Interim WBC junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis and challenger Terry Flanagan both came out extremely cautious in the opening round. A left hand by Prograis is the only significant punch of the round to land. This appeared to edge the round for the champion.

Rounds two and three saw Prograis pick up the pace as his jab started to come into effect more. Landing straight left hands on his gun-shy opponent seemed to give him the early advantage through the first three rounds.

Round five was by far Flanagan’s best round as he was able to land some hard shots on Prograis. However, in round six Prograis regained momentum by landing some thudding shots.

A huge eighth round ensued for Prograis as he dropped Flanagan twice! The first knockdown was a result of a beautiful counter left hand. Flanagan did a good job of battling back.

Showing finesse in his game and the ability to box and counter, Prograis improved his record to 23-0, 19 KOs.

The cards read as 119-110, 118-109, and 117-110.

He’ll now face WBA junior welterweight champion Kiryl Relikh in the semi-finals.
