Andre Rozier On Canelo: He’s The Man!

Andre Rozier, a well-respected trainer who guided Daniel Jacobs (36-3, 30KOs), his former fighter, to the IBF middleweight title has given his praise to the fighter that beat Jacobs in May of 2019, WBO light heavyweight champion Canelo Alvarez (53-1-2, 36KOs).

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Rozier not only praised Alvarez as a great fighter, but declared that the boxing cash cow would reign supreme over every champion at light heavyweight.

“He looks so goddamn comfortable at 175. I honestly think he’ll beat all the champions at 175.”

On how he would fare against Artur Beterbiev:

“I think he’d knock him out. Beterbiev is not that much bigger than him.”

A fight versus IBF and WBC unified light heavyweight champion Beterbiev (15-0, 15KOs) would be highly entertaining and interesting. For what Beterbiev lacks fundamentally, he makes up for with his brute strength and pressure. This fight would look totally different than Alvarez versus Kovalev, who elected to fight extremely cautious without committing to his offense.

One thing you don’t have to worry about with Beterbiev is his fighting spirit. Quiet outside of the ring, he’s a totally different guy inside of that squared circle. Just ask former WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (17-1, 14KOs), who was stopped in 10 rounds in their unification bout in October of 2019.

If these two fighters ever cross paths, it’ll be an interesting fight for sure with three titles on the line.
