Jared Anderson Returns to the Ring in August
It appears that heavyweight contender Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson (15-0, 14 KOs) will be fighting again very soon. According to Toledo, Ohio news outlet WTOL11, Anderson could fight again on August 26.
Anderson is coming off a ten-round unanimous decision win over former IBF champion Charles Martin on July 1. It was the toughest fight of Anderson’s career as the 23-year-old was hurt multiple times during the bout. Fighting in his hometown of Toledo, The Real Big Baby went the distance for the first time in his career.
A BOLD MOVE
Promoted by Top Rank, it would be a quick turnaround for the Ohio native. In an era when fighters go months in-between fights, getting back in the ring so soon harkens to the days of decades past when boxers were very active and fought as often as possible. The reason for this decision could be because Anderson and his team were disappointed in his performance against Martin and would like to get back in the ring as soon as possible.
As of this writing, it’s unknown who Anderson would fight in August. A potential opponent could be Zhan Kossobutskiy. Anderson was to fight Kossobutskiy on July 1. However, Kossobotskiy had to withdraw due to visa issues.
Top Rank has a scheduled card set for August 26 in The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma on ESPN. If Anderson is to fight on that date, it would likely be at that venue. Stay tuned to 3kingsboxing.com for further updates.
