3kingsboxing.comhas learned WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr is likely to make his 2019 ring debut against #3 ranked Kiko Martinez.

Martinez is a former IBF super bantamweight champion who has a wealth of experience against the likes of Carl Frampton, Scott Quigg, Leo Santa Cruz and Josh Warrington.

Russell is looking to fight three times in 2019; something he has rarely done as a pro. The motivation to that is because he’s likely to face WBA super champion Leo Santa Cruz in a high stakes unification bout later this year.

While nothing has been finalized, it’s expected an announcement will be made shortly.
