Ryan Garcia Targets Vasyl Lomachenko For Picking Gervonta Davis
Emotions can run high when a fighter is picked as the “loser” in a high profile bout by another fighter. This is what happened when Ryan “KingRy” Garcia (23-0, 19KO) got wind that three-divisional champ Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (17-2, 11KO) picked Gervonta “Tank” Davis to win their “expected” April 15 meeting. Now KingRy wants a piece of Lomachenko after, in his words, he “beats” Davis!

Garcia has been publicly adamant for over two years that he has the goods to beat Davis. The 24 year-old even bypassed an opportunity to face now undisputed champ Devin Haney for the WBC title to pursue Tank. A date and venue to make his wish come true has been set, although, no official announcement has been made.

Lomachenko isn’t alone in his opinion. Many boxing fans believe the knockout power of Davis will be too much for THE once-dropped and less experienced Garcia. As of February 20, Tank is the favorite to win the bout with the large majority of bookmakers. According to DraftKings, the moneyline has Davis a comfortable favorite at -280.
WHAT IF SCENARIOS
Hi-Tech has a huge obstacle of his own to get around. Apparently, Haney and Lomachenko are closing in on a deal to meet in May. Should both Garcia and Lomachenko get passed their next assignments, it would be an extremely intriguing bout. Especially since it would be for the undisputed crown.
On the other hand, should Garcia get passed Davis, but Lomachenko falls to Haney, this would not be the fight to make. A win on April 15 would instantly void the stigma that Garcia is just an “Instagram Fighter”. This is due to his mega following on the social media platform without having the boxing resume to warrant it.

KingRy has a lot to prove in this fight. If he is successful, it means he becomes an huge problem for anyone in the division. The fight to be made then would then be against Haney or Shakur Stevneson, not Lomachenko.
A loss against Davis would mean a trip back to the drawing board. Also, depending on how he loses, it may just remove interest in a Lomachenko fight altogether. In other words, stick to the task at hand!
