Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell To Fight At Fantasy Springs In Indio, California

It’s been known for a while now that Ryan Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs) and Luke Campbell (20-3, 16 KOs) will face each other on December 5 for the WBC ‘Interim’ lightweight championship live on DAZN.

We now know the location of the contest as well as information on who will appear on the undercard.

On October 30, Golden Boy Promotions announced the fight will take place at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. Fantasy Springs is familiar territory for the 22-year-old Garcia. Living in Los Angeles, he has fought at Fantasy Springs on three different occasions.

It’s safe to say that Campbell is fighting on enemy territory. However, keep in mind his first world title shot (against Jorge Linares) took place in Inglewood, California.

CAN YOU SAY REMATCH?

On the undercard, Rene ‘Gamelo’ Alvarado (32-8-1, 21 KOs) will make the first defense of the WBA “Regular” junior lightweight title against Roger ‘The Kid’ Gutierrez (24-3-1, 20 KOs), who is ranked second by the WBA.

In July 2017, Alvarado scored a seventh-round stoppage win over a then unbeaten Guitierrez. As Golden Boy President Eric Gomez noted during the announcement of the boxing card, the history between the two will serve as an intriguing backdrop heading into this fight.

“More than three years after Rene began his own title run by derailing Roger’s highly touted American debut, the tables have been turned, and ‘The Kid’ is now gunning for Gemelo’s world title.

“Both of these guys know what it’s like to come back from defeat. Fans will be treated to them leaving it all in the ring.”

Also set to appear on the card is Franchon Crews-Dezurn (6-1, 2 KOs) who will defend the WBA and WBC women’s super middleweight titles against an opponent TBD.
