Frank Warren open to Billy Joe Saunders fighting on DAZN.
In a turn of events that should excite boxing fans, Frank Warren has recently stated that he wouldn’t be opposed to Billy Joe Saunders fighting Demetrius Andrade (25-0) for Saunders’ WBO middleweight title.
This is a fight that many boxing purists are looking forward to. With one more roadblock seemingly removed, it looks like we’ll see this fight before the end of the year.
The fight seemed to be in jeopardy as both sides had reached an impasse in negotiations. Yesterday, the WBO ordered a purse bid.
The logistics of a fight still seemed shaky due to the poor relationship of Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, and with the recent launch of Eddie Hearn’s platform DAZN.
It seemed to be a risk, both financially and competitively, that would make it unattractive for Warren. However, today Warren stated that if he lost the purse bid he’d be open to the fight being on DAZN.
He also stated:
“If they win they’re gonna have to bid a lot of money.”
So, as of now we, have the makings of a fight.
