Sergio Mendoza Short Circuits Angel Ramos Early
With his WBO number nine ranking on the line, light flyweight Sergio “Yoreme” Mendoza (24-0, 20KO) scored a highlight reel knockout over Angel Ramos (32-2-2, 19KO).
After a slow start that saw Ramos landing and throwing shots like a buzzsaw machine, Mendoza quickly turned things around with sharp, accurate punches.
Yoreme picked up the pace, landing hard shots to the body, and those uppercuts halted Ramos’ momentum. It was clear his power was going to be a factor in the fight.
Ramos tried to fight back aggressively but was put on the canvas by a vicious uppercut. Realizing Ramos was severely hurt the referee immediately waved off the fight in the third round.
It was the type of performance that would get the fan’s attention. Mendoza has the talent to be force in the divison. In addition, he will undoubtedly get a bump in the rankings.
