Amanda Serrano makes history again!
Amanda Serrano joins an elite club winning a title in six weight classes. This achievement stands next to the likes of Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao.
The 29 year-old Puerto Rico native now residing in Brooklyn, received motivation from the home crowd. She displaying excellent footwork, ring generalship and experience guided her to a win by unanimous decision.
Serrano improved to 35-1-1, with 26 knockouts. Tonight’s victory keeps her in line for a possible showdown with the undefeated unified champion Katie Taylor.
INTERESTING FACTS
Serrano still holds the WBC Diamond Super Bantamweight title. This means she can make a move down in weight and have an immediate opportunity to challenge for the WBC title.
In addition, she has never lost a fight in the US.
It’s unclear what the next move will be for the pound for pound fighter. She has expressed interest in moving up yet again to fight the undefeated and undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus. If that fight gets made, it would be a HUGE fight for women’s boxing!
