Genesis Servania returns in hopes a victory will get him another opportunity against Oscar Valdez


3kingsboxing has learned top featherweight contender Genesis Servania (32-1, 15KOs) will possibly be facing Luis May (21-11-1, 8KOs), on the under-card of Oscar Valdez vs Andoni Gago January 12.

Another top Filipino fighter, Servania actually lost his first bid at a major title agains Valdez in September 2017. He now enjoys a three-fight winning streak and is ranked #1 by the WBO. A win here could grant him an opportunity to rematch Valdez if he defeats Gago.

His biggest criticism is the level of opposition on his resume. In addition, has no fights against challengers within the top fifteen of the rankings. Many pundits feel his next opponent is no different.

May, a 34 year-old Mexican veteran, has shared the ring with some recognizable names. Ryo Matsumoto, Shun Kubo and Luis Lebron are some that top the list. Therefore, the experience is there, however, what he has left to bring in this match-up is still up for debate.

Servania’s lone defeat came from Valdez in his American debut. Additionally, has held many three separate minor titles at super bantamweight and one at featherweight.

May is a former NABF bantamweight champion and has never won a minor title from any other major sanctioning body.

This is a stay busy bout for the talented Japanese based Filipino fighter. His performance against the WBO champion has already gotten the attention of the entire boxing community, therefore, he should expand on this.

Tucson, Arizona on January 12 will be the expected location and date.
