Claressa Shields Eager To Prove Boxing Superiority Over Savannah Marshall
Now that two-time Olympic gold medalist, two-time undisputed champion and unified middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (12-0, 2 KO’s) has signed her next fight she can breathe a sigh of relief. This because T-Rex penned a match with her long time rival and WBO middleweight champion Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall (12-0, 10 KO’s) for September 10.
Shields has been grinding an axe just for Marshall due to the WBO champ serving her one and only loss back in the amateurs. This was her sole defeat as an amateur.
Since turning professional, Marshall has continued to add a number of wrinkles to her game. Even more so, with her high knockout percentage, the Silent Assassin is gaining the favorable reputation as a power puncher and efficient finisher. This is in stark contrast to the two professional stoppage wins that Shields has on her resume. Despite her anemic knockout ratio, T-Rex is often heard hyping up her own punching power. Now that she is facing Marshall, as revealed to Boxing Social, she is not changing her script whatsoever!
“This fight I am going to bring a lot more power than I did to my last fights. A lot more composure. My defense is going to be on point, my combinations are going to be on point but you are going to see why I call myself the GWOAT.
“Because even against this big, strong, tall power puncher, she is going to see that she can’t outbox me, she can’t out-punch me and you are going to see that I am the stronger fighter even though she has more knockouts!”
