Claressa Shields downplays Savannah Marshall’s resume
Rivals in boxing add more to the fight, making fans want to see it even more. More drama, and higher intensity and stakes make the fans more eager to see it. The rivalry between two-divisional undisputed champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (11-0, 2ko) and WBO middleweight champion Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall (11-0, 9ko) has been told throughout boxing.
The history between these two female fighters goes back to when Marshall defeated a then 17-year-old Shields. This has haunted the self-proclaimed G.W.O.A.T (Greatest Woman Of All-Time) and followed her into the professional ranks.
Shields has been answering the question about getting revenge for the longest time. After every fight and on social media, it was always “when are you going to fight Marshall?”
Well, fans were excited when T-Rex signed a lucrative deal with the same network as Marshall at SkySports. Shields even took to social media to express how excited she was about the milestone contract.
“I knew this day would come, 7 figures! What God has for you no one can keep from you! Highly favored & blessed!”

The idea behind the signing was that the two-divisional undisputed champion was to make a debut in the United Kingdom. After Marshall destroyed challenger Lolita Muzeya back on October 16, Shields would congratulate her rival for finally breaking the curse of losing before they were supposed to fight. Marshall sent a statement towards her arch-rival during the post-fight interview.
“What a load of crap. She won’t last two rounds with me!”

WHY SHE WANTS TO FIGHTS MARSHALL
During an interview with SecondsOut, T-Rex expressed not liking the indication that she could not have achieved her status in boxing if Marshall was in the way.
“I don’t need to fight her to prove that I am better than her, I already know that. I just really want to fight her because they are trying to say that I’ve accomplished everything, that I have accomplished because she wasn’t available.”
“She turned pro before me, She was signed with Mayweather promotions… She’s had the opportunities, she chose to fight lower opponents.”

Marshall has suffered a hand injury that canceled a December 11 fight date. However, her injury should not derail their plans to face each other in 2022. The boxing community eagerly awaits for these rivals to step into the ring.
