Claressa Shields spearheads a huge multi-fight deal with UK debut against Ema Kozin
Two-divisional undisputed champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (11-0, 2ko) is all set to make her United Kingdom debut. She will face Ema “The Princess” Kozin (21-0-1, 11ko) as the first opponent following her recent signing of a multi-fight deal worth seven figures.
THE RETURN OF THE G.W.O.A.T
In September, T-Rex first inked a deal with Sky Sports. It was common knowledge this was a prelude to fans finally seeing the long-anticipated amateur rematch against arch-rival/WBO middleweight champion Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall (11-0, 9ko). Moreover, fans were extra excited to learn of her return to the ring on December 11, before fighting Marshall in a 2022 showdown.
Shields proudly revealed the deal comes with a lucrative purse.
Shields will be returning to the boxing ring following a win over Marie Eve Dicaire en route to becoming undisputed champion at junior middleweight. Lately, the self-proclaimed Greatest Woman Of All-Time (G.W.O.A.T) has been fighting in the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Despite suffering her first defeat, via split decision by Abigial Montes, bringing her record to 1-1, make no mistake, Shields’ spirit and passion to be the best is far from broken. Fans can expect her to come out wanting to make a statement. The MMA loss has not withered her status in boxing. It will only fuel her hunger more than ever.
MEET THE CHALLENGER
Kozin is relatively unknown to most in the boxing community. Yet, the 22-year-old Slovenian has some decent achievements in boxing. She has held both, the WBC International and Silver titles, at middleweight and super middleweight.
The Princess picked up the vacant IBF super middleweight championship against two-time junior middleweight champion Maria Lindberg back in 2019. In 2020, she captured the WBC Interim middleweight title by defeating former IBF junior middleweight champion Chris Namus.
Although her accolades are noteworthy, Shields is on a whole different level altogether. The Princess has decent power and will be making her first appearance in the U.K while looking to play spoiler. Nonetheless, she has a stiff task ahead to overcome in competing for Shields’ WBC, WBA, and IBF middleweight titles.
With so much on the line, the English fans will undoubtedly pack the house at the Motorpoint Arena Live on Sky Sports on December 11.
