Rising Welterweight Contender Shinard Bunch Looking to Continue his Busy Ways!

Without question, former amateur standout and welterweight contender Shinard “ShowTime” Bunch is currently one of the busiest fighters in the sport. This should not be surprising given that he ended his amateur career with well over 400 bouts. So, paying the hurdles presented by the pandemic zero mind, Bunch staged an impressive five bouts in 2020. The New York native would go on to follow this up with eight prizefights in 2021!

Despite his extreme activity and success, 2021 was not without its mishaps. This is mainly due to his controversial July 23 dustup with Janelson Bocachica. When the two tested their skills and might against one another, it was clear to see that Bunch was the actual victor. Sadly, this is boxing where anything can and does happen on a regular basis. So, when the bout went to the scorecards, rather than being crowned as the winner, Bunch was saddled with a mind boggling draw.

Naturally, ShowTime was not pleased with the outcome but he took it in stride. Since the hiccup with Bocachica, Bunch claimed two more wins by way of knockout. Promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing, ShowTime is looking to navigate another beneficial and jam-packed 2022. This will kick off on January 7 when Bunch takes on undefeated Shyngyskhan “Chingiz” Tazhibay (9-0, 2 KO’s) live on SHOWTIME Boxing. Yet, ShowTime is not worried about it.

Now, with his chief second Chino Rivas, Bunch believes he is taking his fledgling steps toward being a real threat in the division! Let’s see how his professional journey unfolds starting with his next fight on January 7.
