Liam Smith Threatens Adding Catchweight Terms to Rematch with Chris Eubank Jr!

Ahead of his last battle, middleweight fighter and one-time WBO Super 154-pound champion Liam “Beefy” Smith (33-3-1, 20 KO’s) was confident in victory. After facing and stopping Chris Eubank Jr (32-3, 23 KO’s), he has proven himself to be a man of his word. Directly after the fight, and in a follow-up tweet, Eubank Jr was quick to call for a professional do-over. At the present moment, Beefy is open to giving him what he is looking for.

Chris Eubank Jr plans to rematch Liam Smith

Following a heated pre-fight build up, Smith twice floored Eubank Jr and had him more unbalanced than a three-legged table in an earthquake. So dire was his equilibrium that referee Victor Loughlin felt compelled to halt the action. Despite the definitive nature of the fight’s conclusion, Beefy will run it back. That is, so long as the rematch is completely on his terms.

Smith had a straight response, when asked if he would accept the rematch with Eubank Jr.

“Yeah, I have to, of course. I said last week, I said two weeks ago, I said three weeks ago, if I beat him once, I beat him twice! So it’s not a problem, but this has to be right for me now and on my terms . . . I might drag him down to 157!”

Now that he is clearly in the driver’s seat, it will be interesting to see how talk plays out between the two teams while attempting to hammer out a rematch. Without question, this has got to be a great feeling for Beefy given the fact that he was obviously contemplating the notion of hanging up the gloves. With this new breath of life injected into his career, it will be revealing to see what move he makes next.
