Callum Smith is game for possible Canelo fight!
Undefeated WBA super middleweight super champion Callum Smith wasted little time informing Golden Boy he will accept a fight with unified middle weight champion Canelo Alvarez.
On May 4 at the T-Mobile arena, boxing’s biggest star won the IBF title to go along with the WBA, WBC and lineal middleweight titles. Shortly after, there were a list of possible opponents for a September bout.
Smith, age 29, is among the possible opponents. Also, seeing how Alvarez is the WBA “regular” champion at super middleweight, this bout has a high possibility of happening. Upon hearing this, via social media, Smith let it be known he is game if Golden Boy is serious.
Currently, the British boxer is on schedule to make his second American appearance at the famous Madison Square Garden. He’ll fight on the June 1 under-card of Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz. There has yet to be an announcement of an opponent.
However, if victorious, there will be plenty of time to prepare for a potential bout with Alvarez. Many pundits consider Smith to be arguably the second best fighter at the super middleweight division after winning the World Boxing Super Series tournament.
