Spence Takes Shots at Thurman
Since the first day that he stepped into the division, WBC and IBF world welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (26-0, 21 KO’s) has performed under a heavy spotlight. This was due to the high endorsements that Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr (50-0, 27 KO’s) and other notable industry insiders saddled Spence Jr. with.
For almost this exact same length of time, The Truth has remained linked to former welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (29-1, 22 KO’s). The two boxers’ names were also handcuffed together by Money Mayweather, who suggested that Thurman should face Junior in the ring. At the time, Thurman said that Spence had to do more and just like that, a years-long rivalry was born.
THURMAN GETS NO RESPECT
Even after all these years, the two have not managed to get in the ring to settle who is the better man. Sadly, there is a good chance that they never will. In a recent Twitter post, Spence Jr. once again took shots at Thurman by poking fun at One Time’s alleged ‘get back year.’
Following an extended hiatus from the sport, Thurman claimed that he would rise to his former dominance in 2018. Ultimately, One Time would not fight one time that year. Directly due to his inactivity and fluctuating talking points, The Truth is the one no longer seriously entertaining a potential bout with Thurman. That does not mean that he is above provoking the former champion, however.
SPENCE NOT TRYING TO HEAR IT
Clearly, Spence was feeling some type of way when his Twitter fingers began dancing their Waltz. Along with Thurman, who he mentioned specifically, The Truth let it be known that he did didn’t care about what any other fighter thinks of him. In his mind, he had to walk a rough road to get his titles and, therefore, cannot be concerned with the chatter of fellow fighters.
