Eimantas Stanionis Seemingly Takes a Shot at Jaron Ennis
It’s no secret that WBA Regular 147-pound champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 10KOs) wants to face the best fighters in his division and give fans the most exciting fights possible. The unbeaten Lithuanian champion is not a trash talker. However, that shouldn’t be taken as a lack of confidence. His approach is simply to let his skills do the talking inside of the squared circle.
In total contrast is top 147-pound contender Jaron “Boots” Ennis (29-0, 27KOs). Boots, who’s ranked number 2 in the WBO, number 1 in the IBF, number 3 in the WBC, and number 2 in the WBA, hasn’t hid the fact that he feels he’s ready for any and everyone at 147. The Philadelphia boxer-puncher recently stated that he will fight either former unified champion Keith Thurman or Stanionis next.
STANIONIS NOT HERE FOR TALK!
Recently, the newly crowned WBA regular champion took to social media to send a message to fans and his fellow fighters that he’s waiting on a date and that he’ll be back soon. However, things got interesting when a fan commented on his post and brought up the fact that Ennis had been calling him out. This led him to respond with a cryptic statement.
“Talk is talk, but nobody walks the walk.”
That statement can be taken however the reader chooses to receive it. But the fact remains that he appears to be up for a fight. But, is Boots? Oftentimes, fighters express their desires publicly, but once negotiations start, things change. I’m not saying that’s the case with Ennis and his team, but Stanionis seems to be insinuating that more talking is going on than the effort to make the fight happen. Still, he could be talking about other fighters as well.
Truth be told, if this fight is made, it would be an exciting bout as both men can punch and box. It would also be a true test for each. Let’s hope this fight gets done.
