Carlos Takam’s signing with Star Boxing puts Oleksandr Usyk bout in jeopardy!

Just when you thought Oleksandr Usyk vs Carlos Takam was a forgone conclusion, think again!

Reports surfaced that the fight between Usyk and Takam had been rescheduled for October 12 after the original May 25 date had to be postponed due to a torn biceps suffered by the former cruiserweight king.

Takam, a former world title challenger, has brought in the services of Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing. With this move, it’s now uncertain as to whether the fight will move forward as expected.

Expectations were this fight would be more of a showcase bout than an actual competitive one. However, the fight still had some intrigue due to Takam’s experience, toughness and power.

Now Usyk and Hearn will potentially have to go back to the drawing board and see if they find another recognizable opponent that could make for an intriguing match-up in the Ukrainian’s heavyweight debut.
