Shakur Stevenson shows veteran champion no respect
As their legal litigation barrels toward finalization, the verbal fisticuffs between WBO World super featherweight champion Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring (23-2, 11 KO’s) and “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (16-0, 8 KO’s) is heating up. At one point, Herring was very upfront about seeking a unification bout over a dustup with Stevenson. Yet, in the end, the powerful winds of business blew Semper Fi in Fearless’ direction.
As the lawyers do their part, Stevenson took to social media to ridicule and clown Herring. It’s not the first time that Fearless has publicly demeaned the WBO champion. Provided that everything goes as planned, and the fight is officially announced, this hazing has an excellent chance of increasing.
COMMON ENEMY
Probably more disrespectful than the tweets is the dismissive fashion in which Stevenson describes Herring. To let Fearless tell it, Semper Fi stands no chance in the ring when they go mano-a-mano. Rather than fight each other however, both boxers would prefer a showdown with WBC World super featherweight champion Oscar Valdez (29-0 23 KO’s). That was the aforementioned unification bout that Herring sought.
For his part, Stevenson has been chasing a fight with Valdez since their days back down at featherweight. The New Jersey native is hopeful that if he snags Herring’s title, he can finally corner the Mexican in the ring. Yet, before either Herring or Stevenson can land their gloved knuckles on Valdez, they have to go through one another. So, first let’s get the official announcement, then we can see who truly the better man is.
