Shakur Stevenson is serious about fighting Jamel Herring for WBO belt
WBO/WBC junior lightweight number one contender Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (15-0, 8ko) is not playing about fighting for a championship. He took to social media with a message for fellow stablemate and WBO champion Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring (23-2, 11ko).
Fearless has been hot on the trail of the WBO champion since moving up into the division. The migration followed an unsuccessful attempt at getting a huge unification fight with former IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington.
According to the WBO regulations, a former champion leapfrogs to the front of the line. Stevenson also was able to pound out the number one spot within the WBC while waiting on the WBO champion to conclude his business with two-division champion Carl “The Jackal” Frampton.
Semper Fi brought his A-game in the biggest fight of his career, and he beat the brakes off Frampton, sending the Irish fighter into retirement. With all eyes now looking at a unification bout with WBC champion Oscar Valdez, manager Frank Espinoza was quick to call for a unification bout following Herring’s victory.
A MESSAGE TO THE CHAMPION
Stevenson immediately took to social media to remind team Valdez that nothing will move until he gets a title shot first. Well, Stevenson has taken things a step further. Once again, the talented fighter took to social media with a humorous message for the WBO champion.
Of course, the WBO champion responded by letting the young lion know his thoughts on the tweet: “Bro Funny.”
Fearless responded making it clear this is not a joke, and he wants some smoke with the champion by even providing a date they can face each other.
