Shakur Stevenson Finds Gervonta Davis Rant Amusing
WBC lightweight champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (22-0, 10KO) had a unique response to WBA champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0, 28KO) dismissive tone about the two of them fighting.
Fearless has been adamant about fighting Davis. This a fight that needs to happen, especially since they are considered the two top dogs in the division. In addition, several pundits believe Stevenson’s defense prowess would be a huge issue for Davis.
Despite the two of them exchanging harsh words on social media, they have yet to step into the ring. While speaking with the media for his upcoming fight with WBA junior lightweight champion Lamont Roach, a frustrated Davis called the WBC champion’s resume into question.
“What has Shakur done? What has he done in the sport? He hasn’t done nothing … Y’all keep screaming this niggas name, he hasn’t done nothing … the fuck y’all keep saying his name for.”
HE THOUGHT IT WAS HILARIOUS
Fearless is gearing up to take on top contender Floyd Schofield is always watching social media like a hawk. Realizing his name got under Davis’ skin, Stevenson At took to social media, laughing at his rival’s unnecessary outburst.
Davis shouldn’t have gotten that upset over being asked about fighting Stevenson. In addition, his claim that Fearless hasn’t done anything in the sport is asinine.
Stevenson is a former unified junior lightweight champion and a three-divisional champion. Moreover, several pundits have listed him as a top ten pound-for-pound fighter, which isn’t something to sneeze at.
In addition, he holds victories over former champions Jamel Herring and Oscar Valdez, which is better than anyone Roach and Tank’s last opponent Frank Martin have fought.
Stevenson’s fighting style isn’t the most appealing to some boxing fans. But that shouldn’t matter when talking about a fight between two champions in the same division.
In this author’s opinion, Davis versus Stevenson is a fight that must happen in 2025.
