Shakur Stevenson Says Rolly Romero is Nothing to Take Seriously
In the hurt business, it’s not unusual for fighters to establish a legitimate distaste for one another. Such is the case with WBO and WBC super featherweight champion “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (18-0, 9 KO’s) and one-time lightweight world challenger Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-1, 12 KO’s). Having mutually trashed the other in interviews and social media posts, the two have developed a hardy disdain for their fellow knuckle-chucker.
Due to this, Fearless was filled with much glee and satisfaction when Rolly was recently flattened. After breathing a mountain of tough talk, Romero found himself hit, discombobulated and stopped in the sixth round of his last match with Regular WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. Yet, in a recent interview conducted with Fight Hype, Fearless delved into greater detail of why he just doesn’t dig Rolly.
THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT…
“I wanted him to go to sleep, I wanted to see him out cold and knocked out! At the end of the day, I don’t got no hate for nobody, but when you start talking the way that you talk to social media and you say certain thing about me… And then when I see you, it’s like a whole different type of energy. Like it ain’t really the same. You ain’t really talking like that, you see me and look the other way. You ain’t just out there saying the same things you getting in the camera and saying to an interviewer and saying certain things about me. I think dude is a goof.
I think he is a clown. He got up and still was talking shit! He said he exposed Tank and he got knocked the fuck out, I ain’t never heard nothing like that before in life! How you get knocked out, you get up and you don’t say he was the better man, you say, ‘I exposed him, everybody know!’ That don’t even make sense…at the end of the day all you really is is bark. You talk, you got a good mouthpiece so that’s what’s helping you getting a certain position that you’re in. But you’re not really a real fighter, you’re not really like that.”
WHAT GOES AROUND…
There is little doubt that Rolly will hear and respond to these recorded words of Stevenson’s. There is no doubt his retort will be thoroughly laced with profanity and rather memorable. What will be more interesting than that however is seeing against who and how Rolly fairs after suffering his first professional loss, and by knockout. Thankfully, regardless of how any of it pans out, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news.
