Matias Looking for Another Title Shot Following Easy Ramirez Win

Fighting at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, former IBF junior welterweight champion Subriel Matias (21-2, 21 KOs) had to barely break a sweat as he chomped down and took out Roberto Ramírez (26-4-1, 19 KOs) in two rounds. Stalking from the opening bell, Matias went to work in round two.

A Matias body shot put down Ramirez at the midway point of the round. From there, you knew it was only a matter of time. Going for the kill, Matias swarmed with power shot after power shot. Another series of body punches produced another knockdown with a minute to go in the round. A beaten man, Ramirez took the count on one knee.

At one time, some in the boxing community considered Matias the boogeyman of the division. That ended when he lost the IBF belt to Liam Paro in June 2024. Currently ranked fifth by the IBF at 140, Matias believes this can be a springboard to a rematch with Paro in 2025.
